It seemed inevitable that I would be a minister!
My father is a URC minister and his father was a Congregational minister. I never intended to follow in their footsteps.
I trained as a nurse and worked as a Health Visitor in London, Luton and Sheffield. But God had other ideas for me and I received a call I couldn't ignore - first of all to be a Local Preacher and then a minister.
I trained at the Urban Theology Unit in Sheffield and my first appointment was as a Minister in Local Appointment in the Sheffield Brunswick circuit before coming to Halifax in 2002. I will be leaving next September for pastures new, but with lots of good memories of my time in Halifax.
Here I have been the minister at St Andrew's and Salem since 2002, at King Cross for the last 15 months of its life and at Ebenezer since September 2009. I am also the Free Church chaplain at Calderdale Royal Hospital. During my time in Halifax I have taken 3 groups on Christian pilgrimages to Israel and Palestine.
I live with my husband, Paul who is a civil engineer. We have a daughter, Hilary who lives in Sheffield with her husband Alex and their son Ralph who was born in March and is wonderful!
I enjoy walking, all kinds of sewing, knitting and playing the clarinet.
